Mulching Tips

Mulching is very important to any healthy garden. Here are some tips to help you in your mulching quest.

Apply Mulch At The Correct Time - The best time to add mulch to your garden is when the soil is moist but not cold. Usually this is in spring, but this all depends on where you live. Also, there is no point in adding mulch to your garden if your soil is dry, the mulch won't let the moisture into the soil

Fertilize And Water First - Always add your fertilizer first before you mulch and then water your garden. Then you can mulch.

Add The Right Amount Of Mulch - The best way to keep weeds out of your garden is to apply loose mulch, 5mm think straight onto the soil.

Use Bark Chippings - While good quality bark chippings cost a lot more then other mulch, I highly recommend you use it. It's attractive and won't blow away and lasts a long time.
